Handstands

  • Welcome to the wonderful world of Handbalancing. In this workshop, we will focus on utilizing core strength and learning how to self-correct positions and shift weight. Be prepared to push yourself, and come hydrated.

  • Able to kick up to handstand on wall

  • Gunnar Field is a contortion and hand-balancing coach based in the USA, he has been teaching contortion for over a decade. Gunnar teaches Mongolian contortion techniques infused with his own flair and influenced by his past training in gymnastics and ballet. Gunnar began training contortion in Minneapolis, MN, coming from gymnastics and having a natural inclination towards flexibility he fell in love with the art immediately. He went to study contortion Ulaanbaatar Mongolia and trained under the guidance of Nargama Baatar. He has furthered his training in China at the Beijing international school of acrobatics and arts. He has performed around the USA, Thailand & China. Using his 30 years of accumulated knowledge of body movement and mechanics he has taken a somewhat different approach to teaching the art of contortion. We are excited to bring Gunnar to our studio to offer this workshop!

  • Curious about Backbending, learning the splits or just want to improve upon your flexibility for dance, aerial, pole or more?? Ever seen a beautiful backbend and thought to yourself, "I could never do that."? Well that is just not true. In this workshop we will be going over skills and drills that will help you on your backbend journey. Together we will have fun learning basic techniques to expand upon your backbend practice.

    Focus will be on shoulder and hip mobility to best set us up for backbending and splits.

    Come discover the joy of flexibility through safe and fun techniques.

Mixed Levels Contortion

  • This workshop is designed for contortionists of all skill levels.

    Wheter you are brushing up on skills or want to learn some new skills and sequences, we will go over warmups, drills for the hips, back and shoulders, balance exercises and partner shapes.

    This workshop is open to contortionists of all levels but does have some light prerequisites.

  • Bridge with shoulders over hands i.e wheel pose

    Splits close to flat or over

    Comfortable kicking into handstand on the wall
